Hi all. I am not a diabetic but live with my husband who has been type B for nearly 20 years now. He is a 'self help' man, v v independent, so I am chatting to you on his behalf. He has a particular problem - has had for some time - around the side effects of his medication (Metformin) and I was hoping someone may have some advice.
The 2 keys problems are digestive and constant dry throat. Anyone out there with similar probs?

Hi Jodi and welcome to the forum you and your husband it is nice you are on here on his behalf and we will help you where we can , I myself am on the same medication and i cant say i have experienced a dry throat but tummy issues are certainly common when it comes to metformin many of us have had problems, has he been to the doc and maybe spoke about the dosage ? what is he on now im personally on 1000mg.

Hi Jodi, welcome to the forum.

Hello and welcome, had problems with it myself but was more like this

I suffered with the rumbling tummy and dry throat hoping the side effects would go away but they didn't.

My doctor put me on the slow release tablets and things are a lot better.

Ask your husband to ask about them with his doctor.

The other thing I found was to do exercise every day, so I walk 20 mins to work and home.

Hope that helps.

im on 500mg metafartin as its more affectionately known....and yes im often thirsty.... when you say Type B i assume you mean T2 ...if you dont mind me asking but where are you from ?
