Stunned with recent blood test results and I would like some advice. Over the last few months I have had kidney problems due to a kidney stone. I only have one kidney and it was close to failure. After 10 days in hospital creatine levels have returned to almost normal. On top of that I had sciatica and I was unable to stand or walk for two months. I was listed for a spinal injection however my back has recovered without any treatment. My GP was taking blood tests to monitor kidney function and to see if I would be able to take pain relief. I had a phone call saying my blood sugars were raised at 43 and they wanted to repeat the blood test two weeks later. It was a H1abc test. I was stunned as I hadn't realised she had done this test, also I am male, I weigh 65 Kgs, height 173cm and I usually exercise regularly. What I would like to know is an interval of two weeks between tests advisable and do you feel the problems with the kidney and back will have affected the results of the H1abc test. I have cancelled the follow blood test and plan to rebook in three months. In the meantime I am controlling my carbohydrate intake. One other point I have a younger brother who is type 2 diabetic.
