Hi all I have just been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes so thought I would join a forum and see what I can learn. Look forward to talking to people here.

Cheers

Val :D

Hi Val, welcome to the forum 🙂 How did you come to be diagnosed? I'd suggest starting by reading the excellent Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter, and getting a copy of : Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker, which will really help you to understand what it all entails 🙂 Have you been given any medication? Please let us know if you have any questions, there are lots of friendly, experienced people here who will be happy to help out - no question is 'silly', so if it is confusing or worrying you, please let us know 🙂

Hi and welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed last December from a blood test for something unrelated!

Hi Northerner, I got diagnosed by a routine blood test. I had been hovering just below the trigger point of 48 and then it went up to 54 and then 58. I have been given Metformin and also Atorvastatin as my cholesterol is high as well. I think my main problem is too much carbohydrates as I don't eat much sweet stuff but had been having quite a lot of bread so I am cutting right down on that. Thanks for reading material suggestions. I only got my tablets today so time will tell.

Hi Val and welcome, your right with the carbs bread, potato, rice, pasta, you just have to find alternatives, try looking in the food section for ideas, Cauliflower rice, courgetti are popular. Wish you well on your journey. Al

Hi Val & welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed in Jan with a HbA1c of 86. Just had my latest blood test & get the results on the 12th. If it wasn't for this forum I'd be completely lost. I owe a lot to these lovely people.🙂
