Just been diagnosed in last month with type 2,and just starting to come to terms with it. I've had a look around the site and the wealth of info on here, hope over the coming weeks to make sense of it all. Have already made major lifestyle changes losing weight etc, but cant understand why my docs wont agree to supply testing to ensure the changes I'm making are impacting. FD

goode evening falcon and welcome to the site, well done on the positive changes thats what its all about , This place is a tonic for many of us and it never seeses to amaze me how much we all help one another , im sorry your GP wont agree to testing they are a few on here with the same situation its so annoying

Hi FD - No I don't understand that either. Perhaps you will support my e-petition on 10 Downing Street:

I'm a Type 2 also who was diagnosed nine years ago. I hope that you already know that it is very important to cut back on eating starchy carbohydrates - e.g. cereals, bread, potatoes, rice and pasta etc to get control of your blood glucose levels.

Best wishes - John

Hi FalconD, thought Falcon would be totally unique when I decided to use it about three weeks ago. Will have to do my Newbie post sometime when I have a few more minutes to spare. With regards to blood glucose testing I would suggest getting a meter - my last one was ?4-99 with 25 strips and see how you get on. If this proves beneficial buy some more and test regularly for a few weeks carefully recording the results. Show these to your GP and you may get somewhere. Part of the problem is that some GP's see them as a short term drain on theor budgets and forget the potential long term gains. A consultant at a support group lecture said he was reluctant to prescribe strips to people with Type II on diet/tablets regimes as some would diligently record their results but not change anything based on the results! The problem is that these people make it bad for others with Type II. Good luck in getting strips on prescription.

Hi FD welcome to the forum - wow, you wait ages for a Falcon and then two come along at once!! 😛
