Hi Mat, welcome to the forum 🙂 What insulin are you on? Glad to hear you are getting things back on track, I look forward to hearing more from you 🙂

p.s. spelling excused 😉

Insulatard penfill and Novorapid

but waiting to ask my GP about Insultard. A pharmacist has just informed me that Insultard doesn't get proscribed for new diabetics and this was the reason he had to order it rather than keep stock.

It's an 'older' insulin I believe, but if it works for you then there should be no reason to change 🙂

Hi Mat and welcome to the forum 🙂

I'm sure plenty of people are still using Insulatard, but most newly diagnosed patients get prescribed levemir or Lantus now, the so-called 24 hour analogue insulins. In studies they give better results, but of course one size doesn't fit all. Lantus didn't suit my son at all, and thankfully he is doing much better with his insulin pump. Would you consider a pump at all?

Thanks everyone.

Redkite: I had thought about a pump when I was struggling but diet and exercise has got things back to were I want them.

welcome to forum of fun, be prepared for anything 🙂
