Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi. I was diagnosed with Type 2 about 3 weeks ago. I was very lucky, in that I opted to have a cholestrol test in a local supermarket, which also revealed a very high glucose reading (13.3). I cant say I'd had any particular symptoms, apart from feeling a bit thirsty at night, and a few other niggles which I'd put down to my age (Im 54 going on 17 lol!) I dont know all the technical terms for the tests at the moment, but have just had the blood test which indicates your average glucose level over past 12 weeks and it was just over 9. Ive had my initial session with the diabetes nurse at my local surgery, and so far I'm really impressed with the way Im being looked after. Lots of tests booked in, and have already had an invitation to a Diabetes Together session locally which sounds very helpful. I'm really trying to look on my diagnosis in a positive way..ie a kick up the derriere to start eating healthily and exercising more. I've been walking a lot and eating more sensibly, and am already starting to feel the benefit, but I guess the proof of the pudding (is that word a no no lol?) will be when I see the nurse for my next session! Am determined to try and get the level down with diet and exercise if at all possible...Sorry for waffling, and pleased to 'meet' you all...

Chrissyxx, great to meet you - welcome! And you've already started out on a positive note - many people find that it's the 'wake-up' call that spurs them into a healthier lifestyle - good for you!🙂

Hi Chrissy....go girl, diet and exercise, show this malaise who's boss. I'm also doing it the healthy way.

Hi Chrissy.... welcome to the site :D

Hi Chrissy and welcome. You're already doing all the right things so keep up the good work! I'm doing it by diet and exercise too.
