Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all. My name is Allie. I have just joined DiabetesUK and looking forward to receiving information and getting to know what is best for me with Type2.

Hi Allie and welcome.

Would you like to tell us a bit about yourself and your diabetes diagnosis....
Things like...
How long you have been diagnosed and how that came about? ie Routine blood test or symptomatic and if so, what symptoms?
What if any medication you have been prescribed for your diabetes?
Your most recent HbA1c result if you know it? This is the blood test used to diagnose and monitor your diabetes and will usually be a number in excess of 47 if you have a full diabetes diagnosis (as oppose to being at risk of diabetes which is between 42 and 47).
If you have much/any weight to lose? (There are some slim Type 2s.)
Any mobility issues which may make exercise challenging? By exercise, I don't necessarily mean anything overly exertive.... a brisk walk is pretty much ideal.
Anything else that you might like to tell us about yourself? Hobbies and interests etc.
Anything particular that you find difficult about diabetes? We have lots of experience of living with it here on the forum (successes and frustrations) so there is lots of practical advice to tap into.

Look forward to getting to know you a little better and hopefully helping you with your diabetes journey.
