Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi. Im new to Diabetes Uk but have been a diabetic for 25 years, diagnosed when I was only 16, there have been some interesting times. Im a survivor comes to mind, I can hear the tune going through my head several times a week. Back in the day there were no forums or discussion groups and you just had to get on with it and hope you survived another day. Modern medicine has made coping with this condition so much easier and less distressing. Anyhow, hi to all of you, I look forward to reading some of the forums.

Hi Rene, welcome to the forum 🙂 Things have improved even in the 9 years since I was diagnosed, and research and technology are making things better for all of us 🙂

I look forward to hearing more from you 🙂

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Hello Rene, welcome to the forum. It is amazing isn't it, all the tech things we have now? Even just a few years ago I'm not sure I could have imagined using things like cgm devices...I wonder what's next? Exciting! 🙂

Hi Rene and welcome to the forum.

Hello and welcome Rene. Glad you found us 🙂

Things have massively improved over the decades. Diabetes still remains as frustrating as ever some days!

Hi, good to meet you! I have had diabetes for about the same length of time as you.

Hi Rene, good to meet you. I've been Type 1 for 21 years, only being 43 when I was diagnosed. So I'm a child of the modern age with diabetes stuff, but even so, I could never have imagined checking my BG just by waving a reader over my arm.

Though I've had diabetes for a long time, I'm so glad I joined the forum because there is always something new to learn, and to learn from others about how they cope. Have a good look round the forum, there's fun to be had as well as education and discussion.🙂

Hey
I'm a newbie
Yes changes are so much better, like the pump, dexcom metres, connection to apps etc. My care team laugh at me for still writing up my tests in a book by hand
And I still look for old school measurement for hba1c. Haven't adjusted to that yet. I still have a chart to refer to

Hi Rene from a 2 year and six month T2
