Hi everyone newbie here, just diagnosed with T2D,

Hello @MTL35 welcome to the forum, perhaps you would to share wot meds you are on/going on. What your leve;s are etc

Hi MTL35, welcome to the forum.

Be prepared to be bombarded with all sorts of facts and numbers and suggestions from your healthcare team (if you're lucky, some people aren't and seem to get little if any support). You don't mention how long it has been since you were diagnosed but it sounds pretty recent and from my own recent memory it can be quite bewildering with huge amounts of information to take on board and process. The longer term forum users here have a huge amount of knowledge and I've always found them ready to help and answer questions should you have any.

One of the key things to take away probably is that you'll need to think about food and carbs and sugar work out to be the same thing eventually it might just take a little bit longer for your body to break the carbs down into sugar so people here will talk about reducing and monitoring your carbs perhaps more than reducing sugar.

Hi everyone newbie here, just diagnosed with T2D,

Welcome to the forum @MTL35

How did your diagnosis come about? Was it picked up in a routine healthcare screening, or had you previously been told you were at risk of diabetes? Were you getting any symptoms that alerted you?

Were you told the result of your HbA1c which gave you your diagnosis? This will be a number above 47mmol/mol, but might be much higher. Knowing your starting point can be helpful in understanding what you have ahead of you in terms of trying to get to grips with your T2. 🙂

Welcome to the forum @MTL35, I would also suggest that you be prepared for a deluge of really helpful advice and information from the people on the forum. And unlike the GP and/or Diabetes nurse, you don't have to wait weeks for an appointment :D

Hi and welcome.... 😎
