Hi everyone

I was told last week by GP I'm prediabetic. I've got my first fasting and gtt at hospital on Monday.
I've bought a kit and my fasting blood today is 7.0 I,ve been more thirsty recently and needing the loo more. Plus sugar cravings! Do you think I'm closer to diabetes now than in the "within ten years" ? 🙄

Also told I've got fatty liver disease :'( not sure what its to do with but my skins gone dry and itchy as well, plus new rosacea. Feel a bit rubbish really. Hope you guys can help
Thanks 🙂

Welcome to the forum, Sunrise.

A waking, presumably fasting, morning blood glucose result of 7.0mmol/l is within the normal range of less than 8.0mmol/l 2 hours after meals, but not within the normal range of 3.5 - 5.5mmol/l before meals.

This page has all the sets of ranges, for adults and children with type 1 diabetes, and for adults with type 2 diabetes: http://www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to-diabetes/Monitoring/Testing/

For fatty liver, here's a good place to start: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/fatty-liver-disease/Pages/Introduction.aspx

You'll notice that there is an interaction between type 2 diabetes, obesity and fatty liver.

So, depending on the OGTT result, you should be given advice about how to manage your condition. It's likely to include reducing body weight, restricting carbohydrate & calorie content of food and increasing physical activity levels.

Thank you
So its a bit high considering it was before a cuppa and breakfast? Thanks I'll look at the link for fatty liver. I've been struggling with my weight for about a year. Its really gone on quick :-(
