Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi everybody. Just joined and looking forward to joining in the great debates here. I am a retired Engineer and I was diagnosed with type 2 back in 1990. I am a fit, healthy 63 year old and I have been on diet only ever since with one or two little hiccups ! No health problems other than the diabetes.

I use a low GI/GL diet as it allows me to eat virtually anything I want just all in moderation. I tried this low carb business but it didn't suit me, much too restrictive for my eclectic tastes. I am still active in my local diabetic organisation and love discussing the in's and out's of diabetes and it's treatments.

As far as I am concerned if the diet you are on works for you then it must be good. Mine has helped me remain at 13 1/2 stone for the last three years and my Blood levels are all great.

Dave 🙂

Dear Sharpe,

Welcome to the forum, I too am a retired Engineer, and was dignosed in Jan 1994. We don't (at least I don't) do low carb here - some of us do controlled carb which in practice can mean a wide range of carbs for different people. Practically, this also means that the carbs eaten are low GI in most cases.

Warmest Regards Dodger

Hi Dave,

Just wanted to say welcome to the forum.

Hello Dave, I'm not retired but I am an engineer (well, a software engineer!).

I'm currently on my way down towards 13.5 stone, but may stop at 14st if it suits me!

Welcome to the forum!

Andy
