Hi everyone
Was wondering if there was anyone out there with a similar problem.
I was diagnosed 6 yrs ago and have had some brilliant hba1c tests.
Since january this year I've been struggling with my bgt in the mornings they are never below 10 and in the evenings never below 13.
My dr has increased my medication even adding extra tablets but still having a nightmare, I just can't understand why, I come from a long line of diabetics my mum and my brother are both type 1 insulin dependent, I was doing so well its all gone wrong . Even my gp can't work it out and I'm getting really fed up now any suggestions would be gratefully accepted. Many thank:confused:

Hi nataliesnan, welcome to the forum 🙂 It would appear that the tablets no longer work for you - what tablets are you on? Many of the tablets work by prompting your pancreas to produce extra insulin, but this becomes ineffective when your pancreas is unable to produce more insulin so your levels remain high. You may need to inject insulin in order to keep your levels under control.

Another possibility is that you have been misdiagnosed, and are in fact a Type 1.5, which is a slow-onset version of Type 1. Given that you have close relatives who are Type 1 I would have thought this is apossibility worth investigating. I would ask for a referral to a consultant endocrinologist since your GP seems unable to help, and it may need someone with greater knowledge and experience.

That was my first thought too - perhaps you are a slow-onset type 1? You definitely need a referral to get an accurate diagnosis. Welcome to the forum btw! 🙂
