Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all.
I've been diabetic (type 2) for approximately 5 years and have been on medication for about 3 years. I'm currently preparing to change to a low carb diet in an effort to reverse my condition. I go to the gym 1 to 2 times a week. But I'm struggling a little with gym recovery. So any suggestions on gym supplements to use during and after training would be greatly appreciated. I hope you chat with you all.
Cheers
Mark

Hi @Mark Dorset - Welcome to the forum, Hope you enjoy it here, There are loads of topics on here to choose from. If you are into sports maybe pop over to the Exercise/Sports threads, maybe there is something there to help you - alternatively you could start your own thread there and ask specific questions, Im sure someone will come along and give you nuggets of useful info - good luck on your endeavours.

Welcome @Mark Dorset there will members who can help. All I can say is make sure you BG is high enough before you exercise. 5.5 or higher, drink plenty of water throughout your workout and maybe eat a handful of nuts or something afterwards. Exercise brings BG down, as I'm sure you know. More tips and help in the exercise section. Enjoy looking around.

Hi Mark Dorset, I don't believe that HIIT, or any high intensity Gym work is helpful for T2D's. It is well known amongst those who have done LCHF, that the what you eat is the most important, followed by when you eat and with exercise a poor 3rd.
Moderate exercise such as a brisk 30min walk 5 times per week or similar is what works best, followed by resistance exercise (to build muscle) since muscle absorbs glucose from the blood. So weight, squats, push-ups etc all help.
