Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1.5 LADA
Hi everyone 🙂

My name is Beth I have type 1 diabetes (officially type 1.5) I was - mistakenly- diagnosed with type 2 several years ago when I was only 23 - despite being underweight, and my dad having type 1 himself. So after 5 years of trying every medication under the sun, and becoming more and more unwell, I was finally referred to a DSN two years ago. I was borderline ketotic at the appointment (0.7mmol/l), I cried a lot because i just felt so unwell, and was started on insulin that very day, and given a new diagnosis of type 1.5. I have never looked back, and started feeling better within a couple of weeks 🙂

A diabetic friend recommended this group to me - I look forward to meeting you all and getting involved on the forum!

Beth x

Hi @Ljc ! Thank you 🙂 I was looking at my tummy earlier - and it looks just like a pin cushion at the moment o_O🙄

Hello and welcome to forum

It seems you’ve had quite a rough time of it with being dx T2 , quite a few people on here have been wrongly diagnosed.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Welcome Beth. Sounds like you have had quite the journey. Hope your well.

Welcome @Pin-Cushion

You certainly have been through the mill, with the wrong diagnosis, and I am glad that you are now in good hands with the specialist team. If you have time tell us a bit about how you manage your T1. Are you in Multiple Daily Injections or a pump? What insulin’s are you using?

If you have any questions just ask away. Someone will pop up with some help and support.
