Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hello Guys,

I'm new on this site, forum. I joined it because I've got serious issues with (type I) diabetes.
Probably the best thing for me at the moment is to find someone living locally (diabetes communities or someone who got T1) and explain what is wrong and why.
So, if someone lives in Birmingham and knows something about communities, please give me a shout.

Thanks,
G

Hi G, welcome to the forum 🙂 We have members here from across the country and you are welcome to outline your difficulties here so that other members can offer suggestions or share their own experiences. If you want to talk to someone, rather than posting, there are some suggestions on the following link:

Hi G and welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear you are having serious issues. Is it possible to discuss them with your diabetes team?

Hi and welcome to the forum. Plenty of knowledge folks round here. Just ask any questions and there's bound to be someone around to help :D

Hi G
Not from that area myself, I'm further north, just wanted to say hello and welcome 🙂

Hello and welcome G 🙂

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your diabetes. The careline that Northerner has put a link to is very helpful to talk to someone who understands or if there is anything you want to discuss on here I have only ever had very kind, useful advice and replies concerning my complications. I hope you can find somewhere/someone to talk to and that it helps you.

Ask at your diabetes clinic - if you are seen at one - if they have any meetings as my clinic used to hold an evening for pump users that was a mix of questions/advice and also a social get together.

Hiya - more of the same - you have actually just FOUND a community!

I was desperate with the problems I suddenly had with my Type 1 - and I'd had it for about 30 years by then - yet within a couple of hours I already knew what was causing the problems and had some suggestions of things I could try (all of which sounded sensible!) to try to solve it all. Brilliant actually, hence why I've stuck round ever since.

This forum meets in various places round the country including Birmingham but only once a year, so people go to whichever meet they happen to fancy, as and when they can get there. Last few years it's been at the Penny Black in Bennetts Hill in the centre of Brum.

Diabetes UK (our Charity, loads of help generally!) have local support groups too - find your nearest one here - https://www.diabetes.org.uk/In_Your_Area/

The last few years has been at The Briar Rose in Bennetts Hill, Jenny. You are thinking of the place at the back of the Mailbox where we used to go 🙂

Thanks for your support guys. I'll tell you about my current issues later on as it is hard to explain when English isn't my native language.
One again I'm really grateful, appreciate that.

Kind regards,
G

Hi and welcome. Look on the Diabetes UK website for Peer to Peer support. Check the charges before using the phone number. You can also use e-mail.

Welcome MBIV. I am on two committees for Duk. I hope there is one in your area. Every meeting you go to they have speakers on with some good info. Good luck

Hi and welcome to the forum, hope you manage to get the help and advice that you need.

Hi there. This community is very helpful
