I agree, it is a brilliant incentive to stick to the plan! I will give it a go, if I can’t cope I’ll speak to my GP. Hopefully as I’m being super good, my levels will come down.I managed to last around 5 weeks without any improvement but others find that the problems reduce.
Things got so bad, I stopped the tablets. I rely on diet alone - and the thought of being advised to take the tablets is a real incentive to stick to the plan.
81 at the moment. I’m quite upset about it, but will deal with it. I’m just worried as I travel each day by train and don’t want a “situation” as has happened.Hi @Jude12 and welcome to the forum!
From what I've seen, quite often people's bodies disagree with Metmorfin. For some - it settles down eventually, for others - not so much. If your diagnosis was recent, it will take some time before the changes you're making are visible in your blood results. What was your HbA1c on diagnosis if you don't mind me asking?
I hope you have been started on a low dose building up over a few weeks to allow your body to adjust but taking with food (midmeal often helps). Some people have also found taking Imodium can also help but if it means you cannot function on a daily basis then do ask for slow release version if they are not already, but there are alternative medications if it is still a problem.81 at the moment. So much for my last posting......made a huge pot of homemade chicken and veg soup, really because I was full of cold and wanted / needed comfort food, have not travelled far from the loo today!!!!!! Just as well my appt with DN was cancelled. Feeling at least three pounds lighter but a little fragile.......pot of fruit tea by my side just now.
Thank you for the information, it’s a mine field! Good idea to keep a diary. My GP has t said anythin* to me about increasing the dose, I think he wants me to get use to it first.@Jude12 I started on metformin in August. Mine were slow release increasing each week by one tablet till I reached 4 x 500. I was only put on a statin a few weeks ago. I think idea was one drug at a time till you have measured efficacy side effects. On one to two I was bunged up. Didn't go for five days then not for eight though when I went were perfect stools. However I did get a lot looser as I got to four tablets. I then was given an SGLT2 and metformin reduced to two tablets. I have continued to have diarrhoea once a week.On one occasion it was at night and a big dump but I had eaten fish and chips. More recently it has been less of a problem and it has never been painful or watery. I mentioned it to HCP when he prescribed a statin but I acknowledged it could have been food or stress. I had the big dump a week later but have no idea when I may be seen again. I'd keep a food and motions diary and report back to the surgery or check with the pharmacist
Slow release is more expensive but is supposed to be kinder. Last month my BG had reduced to 51 so going in right direction.
I take mine a few mouthfuls before the end of a meal but I have seen suggestions take 15 mins after.
Keep notes and be procative
