Hi all, I have been diagnosed today with type 2 diabetes, taking metformin. Any advise would be appreciated thanks
Welcome to the forum, it would be useful to have the information about your diagnosis as that will indicate how much work you need to do. If you have been prescribed metformin I assume it must be well into the diabetes zone, however it also needs some dietary changes and increasing exercise will also help.Hi all, I have been diagnosed today with type 2 diabetes, taking metformin. Hi, 58 was a number she mentioned I have to go back in 2 months to see if the heathy eating and metformin are helpingWelcome to the forum 🙂
Do you know what your HbA1C is? This is what would have come back high for your diagnosis
You might want to get yourself a BG meter as this will allow you to see what effects different foods have on your BG.

Many find a low carbohydrate approach successful, that being no more than 130g total carbs per day. This link may help you with some info and ideas for meals. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
Other people try a low calorie or shakes-based regime to give them a kick start but whatever you choose has to be enjoyable otherwise it will not be sustainable.
58mmol/mol is not too bad and should be perfectly possible to reduce it a good bit by dietary changes. It is normal to have another HbA1C 3 months after the first test as that test is an average over the previous 3 months so to do the test sooner would not reflect the whole period for which you have made the changes.Hi, they said 58 I have to go back in 2 months to see if the healthy eating and tablets have an effect.
