Hey,

Just had the call from GP with the news that I kind of guessed myself, only surprise was how bad it is. Suppose a new lifestyle is required… oh well, new journey in life… probably be here frequently….

And a big welcome to the forum from me too @ajr2007.

Hi and welcome.

If your HbA1c is 140mmols/mol then I think you should be heading to hospital pronto. That sort of level is extremely dangerous and should be attended to as an emergency in my opinion. What has your GP suggested?

@ajr2007 I absolutely agree, your GP is a bit remiss in not advising you to head for A&E if it is as you say 140mmol/mol
If you are not sure that is what was said please give them a ring to check and ask what you should do. This is too high to be left with no immediate treatment.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis @ajr2007

Try not to be too disheartened by your diabetes - we have lots of people on the forum who have started in 3 figures, and have managed to make really positive progress. Some say after they’ve got to geips with it that they haven’t felt as ‘healthy’ in years!

Perhaps it would be worth calling NHS 111 with your results and seeing what they advise - as your results do seem to be at the higher end of the forum’s experience. And if these symptoms have come of rapidly a little extra investigation might be wise?
