Hi everyone

I've been a T2 for around 19 years. I've had my ups and downs but currently on a down.
Had time on my hands and ate a lot and now feel fat and want to do something about it.... so hence I've come here!
I'm on Glimepiride and Sitagliptin and a shot of Levemir morning and night. Also on one Amlodipine a day for blood pressure which is very stable.
Look forward to seeing what you lot are all about.

Welcome to the forum @Jelly Babies Save Lives (great username :D)

Sorry to hear you are having a tough time at the moment, but great that you have joined the forum. We have a supportive and friendly weight loss group - some people find it very helpful to document their progress and use it as a ‘diary’ to keep themselves accountable and motivated.

It can be a frustrating and lonely old slog living with diabetes day-to-day, and having the hive-mind of the forum to ask when any questions crop up, or simply being able to vent and let off steam with any frustrations or struggles can be really helpful.

Folks here instinctively ‘get it’. So fire away!

Thank you @everydayupsanddowns Motivation is my downfall at the moment. I tell myself 'no snacks or drinks after tea' but it just goes clear out of my brain and before I know it I realise I've eaten M&M's!
I managed a 5 mile walk on Sunday, which I haven't done since last October.
I will certainly check out the weight loss section.
Thanks for the welcome!

Sounds like the M&Ms may be better off not living in the house?

Hopefully the people living with you are understanding enough that they want to support you, and either stop buying or ask you to stop eating their chocolate
@Lucyr Easier said than done living with others and Easter just gone!

They can hide it... but trust me I'll find it!
If you really wanted to do something about it you wouldn’t go looking. So if you can’t trust yourself not to find and eat it, they need to stop buying it. They aren’t eating all of it anyway if you are

Maybe have some ground rules that if they want it then they buy their own and don't bring it in the house.

A friend took my photo today and I hated it! I look fat and unhealthy and not at all like me. So I've printed it off and stuck it on the fridge... where the chocolate is!
My new diet starts today.

I never looked at my changed way of eating as a DIET more of a new way of eating that I would enjoy and is sustainable long term. The low carb approach has worked for me and I don't miss the things I choose not to have and enjoy what I do have, even a square of dark chocolate at the weekend and the occasional glass of red wine.

Diet means Don't Indulge Every Time.
I will watch what I eat and be sensible about it.
A glass of red wine and a few squares of dark chocolate on a Saturday night gets my vote!
