Funny that I’ve not registered here before, but anyway. Hi!
I live in London and am very lucky to have had an Animas pump for 10 years and a Libre since November. Yet ever since diagnosis I’ve had abysmal levels (DKA once in 2008) and my current HbA1c is 66 as of this week...
It’s all under my responsibility and obviously has been for a while, yet this latest result is really quite disheartening and I feel a bit overwhelmed with the things I know I need to change in my life to bring it down. (Diet and exercise are wildly variable - angelic one month, hideous the next! That and insulin timing.)
I have the support of my amazing DSN, as well as my family, but I joined the forums to hear the experiences of people diagnosed at a young age and have lived with it for a long time. Does anyone know if there’s a place for us somewhere? All of the official resources seem to drop off a cliff once we’re older and/or have been living with diabetes for a while.
So that’s about it. I’m an office assistant at a local infant school, and I act when I get the chance. I also love architecture, travelling & transport, photography, design and our gorgeous Springerdor, Dexter.
See you out there!
Ryan
