Hi Wednesdaygirl, what's your background and motivation for writing the book? We'd be interested to hear.

I've been trying to write a book for a few years and haven't yet been able to decide what I wanted it to be about. I tried romance and fantasy and thriller but none of them did it for me. I tried writing a children's book but that didn't work either. And then I got the idea of writing a book about an 'ill' child from the whole family's point of view. I then had to decide on what the illness would be. I didn't want something like cancer, I've read several books about childhood cancer and I wanted something different. I didn't want something like Down's Syndrome where people consider the child to be 'different'. I wanted something where the child could appear as completely normal but actually be very different to other children their age. I got the idea of Diabetes mostly because it was the first word I saw when I turned over the page in a magazine but also because my older sister has it so I have had a bit of experience. But not much and not in young children which is why I joined this site.
