Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Good morning everyone, I hope you are well.

Just thought I would introduce myself. My name?s Andrew, I'm 29 year old from Leeds, I have had T2 for just over 6 month's now and so far I have been able to stay away from medication.

My last HBA1C was 6.8, down from 9.9 on diagnosis so I?m quite happy with the way things are going so far. It was no real surprise that I was diagnosed since my Dad is T1 and his Dad was T1, I suppose the only real surprise is that I'm T2 and not T1. With my Dad having T1, I have always tried to look after myself - apart from on a Friday and Saturday night, lol! - so diabetes isn't much of an issue for me, its more of an annoyance if you know what I mean.

I have been registered on other forums for a while but they all seem to be full of too much doom and gloom and after reading a number of threads on here, you all seem pretty chilled. So I'm hoping that during those hard times that we all get (right?), that I can get some kind of positivity from you guys and hopefully, in time, help out you guys too.

Take care

Andrew

welcome andrew ...well chilled like it!! ...excellent HbA1c results in 6months well done!

hey andrew welcome to the forum , brill hbA keep it up x

Welcome :D
Its definitely a postive place & everyone is really helpful and friendly so you chose the right forum to come n join!

Hi Andrew, welcome to the forum🙂 I think we're all aware of how horrible things can be, but we do try and look on the bright side here and for everyone who's feeling down there are always many people willing and able to give good support and get us back on track!🙂

I delve into other forums from time to time but this is my favourite by far! I find some of the others a bit too big and fragmented, so you feel a little isolated from all the other types and methods of treatments - also missing out on their success stories. Here we are more of a 'melting pot' and share and learn from each others different challenges and experiences. I hope you will enjoy it too.🙂

Hi Andrew and welcome to the forum!:D

You have made a good choice joining this one. My son is 11 and type 1 and on a pump - i couldnt have coped without the lovely people on here. Looking forward to reading your posts.🙂Bev

Hi Bev, I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for you and your son. I hope you are both doing ok now?

Hi Northerner, I fully agree with what you?re saying and I also think they can get a little too deep and depressing for my liking.

Thanks to both of you for the welcome.

And a warm welcome from me too - and well done on a fab Hba!

Hi Andrew,

Sounds like you know what you are doing and heading in the right direction.

Stick with it - you know that it is important in the long term.

Best wishes - John
