Hi Bethany. I've just registered too. My name is Sue and I was diagnosed with Type 2 in 2001, and I've been on insulin for 3 years.

been diabetic for nearly 4 yrs.

on 4 injections a day, lantus/novorapid.

Wow 18 is such a young age to deal with such a thing I got diagnosed about 5 weeks ago type 2 mody I take 2 metforin a day and 3 jabs 1 tressiba and 3 novarapid at meal time it's a roller coaster experience I'm finding I'm glad that I found this forum just reading diffrent people's illness we all have same illness but so many diff story's around people's journeys with it

You have responded to an old thread (the last entry was in 2008).
As for 18 to be a young age for diabetes, about 48% of people with Type 1 are diagnosed under the age of 20.

I never knew that I was told it develops in 30s I struggle a little with the injection aside of things with needles I feel for younger generation it must be alot to take in

I think that may be the case for your particular 'brand' of Diabetes, but we’ve had quite a few parents on here with very young children (primary school age, and even below) who have developed Type 1.

You have to feel for parents who have to inject their little babies and toddlers multiple times a day and teens going through the difficulties of adolescence and also having to manage insulin usage. I am really grateful ? in a lot of respects that I developed it in later life.
