Type 1
hi, im steph,
just a little about me...
i'm 19, and got diagnosed with type 1 12 1/2 years ago when i was 6. I'm not very well controlled, partly my doing, but also when i do things right, it still doesnt work out 🙄
i enjoy most things that teenage girls like, such as shopping, going to the cinema, meeting up with friends etc. i dont let my diabetes stop me doing much.
anyway, hello everyone :D
xx

Hey Steph,

Welcome to the madhouse. There's nothing too daft to ask here. I've been type one since I was five. I'm coming up for my fifteenth anniversary this summer.

Welcome to the forum Steph 🙂 xx

Hi Steph, welcome to the forum 🙂 What insulin regime are you on? We have found that a lot of people who have been diagnosed a long time are often not kept up to date with all the latest thinking on how to achieve good control, so it's more than possible that we can help you achieve better results - so please do ask if there's anything that is concerning or puzzling you 🙂

Hi Steph and welcome to the forum 🙂

From my own experience, I urge you to focus on getting your diabetes under control, to avoid any long-term complications.
As Northerner stated, we are not always kept up to date with latest developments in medication or treatment regimes - thankfully, this forum gives you fantastic insight into what is available/possible.

Steph, I'd really recommend you get hold of a copy of Type 1 Diabetes in Children, Adolescents and Young Adults by Ragnar Hanas. It's a fantastic reference and definitely worth flicking through to make sure that you are up to date on everything, and you may come across things you hadn't thought of. You might be able to get a copy from your local library. 🙂

Hey..............Welcome from me...........you will be surprised at how much stuff you can learn here.......:D

Welcome! Shopping 🙂 we think alike there!

Hi Steph, welcome to the forum. Where abouts are you from in east Lancashire? I'm originally from Burnley myself 🙂
