I don't think my sister is managing her Type 1 very well even with a Dexcom sensor. Very frustrating as I, as an American, live in England and she lives alone in the states. My Mother, now deceased, resided there also, was invariably at hand, and called the paramedics when Melissa didn't wake up. I constantly worry about her especially when she emailed me her blood sugar was too low upon wakening, and was too disoriented to drink the nearby fruit juice. She managed to call the next door neighbor who came over with help. Any advice?

Hi @Suze54. You are in a very difficult situation in that there is little you can do other than to encourage your sister to find a neighbour or a friend who will check on her. Are there any community based groups in the area she lives that might offer some local support? It does not help that the American health care system is so different to that in the UK and very few of us have any knowledge of how the American system works in practice.

Thanks for your reply. The American health care system is based on greed and profit, and values wealth over human lives. I shall ask my sister if there's any local support groups in her area. You're right - there's little I can do from afar except continue to give her my undying support, and hope she can visit me in the near future if and when her condition is under control.
