Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
My sister has been a diabetic for 20 years now. She's 27 and she's allergic to some stuff, e.g., she can't wear plastic gloves. Anyways, we live in Mexico and she will be getting the CanSino vaccine but we're super worried about the side effects on her. We haven't found enough information if she should get this vaccine or not. Can anyone help us, please?

All types of diabetes patients in the UK have been strongly advised to have the jabs on the basis that the greater number of people worldwide who are protected by the jabs the less people will get Covid or die with it. The Queen herself has had hers. At all our vaccination centres there are nurses and doctors, and each time each person is asked if they have any allergies and if so to what, because there may be ingredients in specific vaccines that can cause anaphylactic shock if the person happens to already violently allergic to this that or the other. Of course we haven't a clue about the vaccine you mentioned since it hasn't been used in the UK.

We are also told in the specific leaflets they give us when having both the varieties used here what the common side effects are like sore and achey arms, headaches, flu symptoms etc and specifically on here we've been tracking all our side effects - some have had low BG for a while afterwards, some have have had high BG and some like me have had no side effects whatsoever.

Has she asked her own GP for advice?

as @trophywench said here in the UK all diabetics were recommended to get the vaccine under priority which I did when it was my turn with no real side effects on the first jab
(apart from felt a bit week and arm slightly ached the day after)
so without any hesitation having my second jab this Friday

I know several people who had covid-19 and were bed ridden some for several weeks
and some hospitalised,
so would recommend everyone get vaccinated unless their own Doctor advised not to take it.

Unfortunately I don’t think anyone in the UK will have any information to offer, as that isn’t a vaccine that has been authorised for use here.

In general though, it seems the risks of not receiving the vaccine are often greater than the risks of the vaccine.

Is there an alternative that might be available to you @paulina.cs?
