I had a trip in an ambulance yesterday as I think I had my first experience of Diabetes Neuropathy! What a frightening experience as the level of pain I had was out of this world. Hospital were only interested in that I didn’t have a DVT. Can anyone help with advice on pain relief. I am have a GP appointment later this afternoon.

Hi @Rolopuss and welcome. Sorry to hear about your experience.

As to advice on pain relief, your GP has got to be the first port of call. Hope all goes well with your appointment.

@Rolopuss How terrifying! I hope you’re ok and your appointment is helpful. There are people here with neuropathy who might be able to advise. Let us know if you’re prescribed anything to help the pain.

Sending you best wishes.

Sorry to hear about your frightening experience @Rolopuss 😱

Glad you got the all-clear on the DVT, but I can imagine the focus on that might have been a bit frustrating :(

I think one of the tips I’ve picked up from reading posts by members who have experience of neuropathy over the years is the importance of keeping your BG levels as stable and in-range as you can. It seems that erratic and fluctuating BG levels can trigger neuropathic pain in some people?

Hope your GP appointment went well.

Let us know how you got on 🙂

Hi.
So sorry to hear about your traumatic and painful episode. Where was the pain if you don't mind me asking?
I think I have read that diabetic neuropathy tends to affect both limbs rather than just one, so wondering, since they were considering/concerned about DVT, if it was just one leg, maybe less likely to be D Neuropathy....
….Hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong about that.
