Hi Mummyt,
There is not alot you can do now you have injected it, my advice would be to keep a close eye on your blood for the next 24 hours as the lantus will work on you until then. I would eat a little extra today and just monitor blood. I did the oppisite to you on Friday night. Instesd of 12 units of lantus i took 12 units of nova rapid so had to have a huge supper at midnight.

Did you still take your humalog? If not i would take it to cover your meal but maybe take a bit less. Hopefully someone else will be able to advise as well. Don't worry these things happen to us all. x

I think Twinnie did the same thing earlier and got some useful advie from NHS direct, so you could try ringing them, and read her post.

How much Lantus do you normally take per day? I did the same thing a few months ago with my evening meal, and so I took 50% of the amount of quick acting insulin I would normally take, and had lots of snacks for the next 24 hours... and checked BG lots! You might want to have an extra snack before bed, and set an alarm to check BG in the night. Above all, try not to be too active, and carry some glucose with you wherever you go, and be extra careful if you drive anywhere to avoid hypos.

Please take care, keep us posted so we know you're ok!

GP has just rung ..... quick service for a change 😎

He said to miss tea time Humalog and cut the lantus down to 30 at bed time , and keep an eye on Blood sugars too high or low to ring back.

So will do that and let you know what happens

Hi Mo, sorry to hear about the mix up. How much lantus do you normally take, and when would you normally take it? I would imagine that you will need to take regular tests for the next 24 hours or more and maybe regular snacks, as your lantus will now be too high for your background liver glucose. Be prepared for higher post-teatime levels also if you are missing your humalog, as the lantus won't match the peak of your food.

Don't feel silly, mistakes happen - but we have all learned from your experience!
