Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all.
This is my first post so go lightly on me please 🙂

I am 30 and have diabetes type 2 (well after a couple of years and they still don’t know which one ) I’m a delivery driver and do 8hour shifts, which I struggle with ☹️ I have to nap at least once in the day or there is no way I would make it through. I’m constantly exhausted and tired. I’ve had my B12 etc checked. My question is there any benefits I could claim if I was to cut my hours? As I’m really struggling ☹️Thanks

Do you test your own BG - how's it reading, day to day? I'd suspect that too high BG could be a factor here - when mine's too high I very often need to have a nap - and so does virtually every other person with diabetes.

My readings are always all over the shot, I’m on 8 tablets a day, 4 of them being metaformin. I have high hemaglobin aswell which I know doesn’t help .
My fb is aware of this and yet 4 years later still nothing done

I'm unemployed and benefits aren't much at all, just over £70 a week, have you seen about tax credits or anything like that?

Is here any pattern to connect your napping with what you are eating?
I used to fall asleep if I ate sandwiches for lunch.

Hi @JorDn33 and welcome,

What help are you getting with your blood sugar control and is anything happening about the uncertainty of which type you might be? High blood sugar or erratic blood sugar really does make everything such an effort , you feel exhausted, it's like wading through treacle or climbing up Everest. Focussing on getting your glucose stable should have a massive effect on how you feel which in turn may make your job less of a burden .

What other drugs are you taking for your diabetes other than metformin and what was your HbA1c test result if you're ok to let us know.

As @Drummer says if I have two sandwiches it is as if every ounce of energy has been sapped from my body and I have to sleep. I avoid it at all costs. It may be somethingx worth looking at
