Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
And I am struggling to sort things out

Hello Chelsea and welcome to a great forum. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis and that you are struggling. Perhaps you could let us know a little about yourself, how you came to be diagnosed, if you are on any medication and what your blood results were if you know them.
In what way are you struggling, is it maybe the what to eat problem, feeling poorly or maybe trying to get your head around it all? We are more than happy to help and support you in any we can.

Hello @Chelsea// . Welcome to the forum. I does come as a shock doesn’t it. Feel free to ask all the questions you need to about diabetes, we’ll do our best to help.
Firstly try not to panic as with the right info diabetes can be managed well, we can definitely help with the info.

I am guessing you are probably wondering what on Earth can you eat.
Just to get you started.
Firstly their is an awful lot of misinformation out there, one of them is to do with sugar. It’s actually carbohydrates our bodies can’t handle so well sugar is one, things made with flour is another .

We usually have no problems with protein and this will probably surprise you good fats.
So things like cheese, unsalted nuts , cream , eggs cooked anyway you like and lots more need not be off the menu.
If you eat meat, meat is fine including high meat content sausages and burgers , fish sadly not in batter .

We often need to be careful with fruit, many people tolerate berries better, grapes are a no no.

Have a read through this thread , for future reference you’ll find it at the top of the newbies forum

I suggest you start with
Maggie Davies letter, it’s rather long.

Then take your time and go through the rest of the T2 section.
