Hi Angela, welcome to the group.....

One of the first things to do is to cut or reduce sources of carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, rice, cereals & starchy vegetables such as potatoes; replacing them with green leafy vegetables.... This will go a long way toward reducing the BG levels.

Welcome to the forum. Please give us more info & the lovely people here will try to help you.🙂

Hi Angela
What medication (if any) are you taking? What's your diet like? How long have you been diagnosed? If you give us a bit more to work with as Mark said we can probably help with a few suggestions. Welcome aboard by the way, should have said that bit first 🙂

Hello and welcome from a fellow T2

Hi and welcome to forum

Hello Angela, welcome to the forum.

Diet is probably the main thing to get right first. It sometimes helps to keep a meal diary for a bit to be clear about what you're really eating. You can also then relate it to your blood glucose readings and then reduce or even cut out what is doing the damage.

Then, there is exercise. A simple 30min daily walk can do wonders for your control.

Andy 🙂

Hi Angela ...welcome to this forum. Lots of nice people here offering good advice and support. I'm struggling to get my numbers down too, some days they're great, other days they're pants. Trick is to have more good days than pants days. It'll take time but as has already been suggested, start with your food intake. You'll have already cut out the blindingly obvious like sweet fizzy drinks, sweets, chocolates, biscuits and cakes. Now watch out for potatoes, rice, pasta, bread & breakfast cereals. Eat little of these because they push your levels up like crazy. Start checking labels in Supermarkets for Carb content (forget the 'of which sugars bit' it's not important at this stage) Look at the total figure per 100g and get stuff which is as low as you can get. Sadly, this will mean that some of what you currently eat will become a rare 'treat' if you eat it at all. The whole Diabetes thing means making changes to your life but the good thing is that you won't need to change them all at once. It does take time.
Take it steady and you'll find your levels will come down pretty soon.
