Im new and confused, i had a rare stoke just before christmas and through that i found out i was type 2 diabetic and now insulin dependNt as well as anaemic. My sugars were at 26moll apparently and they seem to be steadying between 9 and 12. They need to be lower and im struggling with my diet. Im frightened to touch food, not sure of what im looking for on food labels andliving off fruit, yoghurt and salads. Can someone help?

Hello @tracy1971 and welcome to the forum.
You haven't mentioned what insulin you are using, we need to know so we can give better answers 🙂

Im on glargine every 24 hrs. 16 units
Hello Tracy,
it sounds to me as if you need to contact your diabetes nurse or GP and ask for a bolus insulin so you can inject before meals.
Lowering the amount of carbs you eat will help no end until you can have the added insulin.

Hi tracy1971, welcome to the forum.

Just popping in as I can only imagine how much of a shock you’ve had to deal with over the past few weeks.

It’s natural to be worried about what to eat but it’s good to hear that your numbers have been declining.

I agree with giving your nurse a call as they really should have given you the correct info by now.

Do let us know how the call goes.
