I need some advice. I didn't do my injection this morning and it is now time for my evening meal. My blood sugar is 17.5. I use 10 units of Novomix30 before breakfast and evening meal. What should I give myself now?

Your mixed insulin is a combination of long acting insulin (basal) and quick acting (bolus) insulin, so I am sorry I can’t advise you in what to do. Certainly you need to take your usual insulin this evening.

It is unusual for people to be using mixed insulin nowadays, although this may be more common for people with T2. Many on here whether T1 or T2 use separate insulins following a Basal/Bolus regime. This does mean more injections but it enables people to make adjustments to their meal doses (bolus) without impacting their background insulin dose (basal) . This also enables us to give correction doses when we get into a muddle or miscalculate things.

I will let any others that are still on mixed insulins advise on what to do in your current situation.
I would just suggest that you might find things more flexible switching to the separate injections for basal and bolus, but there may be reasons why you would not want to consider the additional injections.

Sorry not to be able to be of any more help

@tonyrobson Just take your normal evening dose of Novomix. The morning dose was to cover your breakfast and lunch, and you missed that dose. You CANNOT take it now. The time has passed. Just have your evening dose.

You’ll probably be higher than normal, but see what your blood sugar is in the morning. It might go down a bit with your evening dose.

Do you eat set amounts of carbs for your meals?

Sorry to hear about your missed dose @tonyrobson - don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s very easily done!

How are your levels this morning?

Hopefully they will gradually come back into line over the next day or two.

Let us know how things go 🙂
