Hi everyone, just wondering what everyone takes to ease a cold, I've heard that beechams powders is a no no, at the moment I'm just taking paracetamol. Just thought there might be something else I could take, just to get me through the working day 🙂

I find Halls cherry sugar-free menthol sweets help keep the airways open 🙂 Also use Olbas Oil - a couple of drops on a hankie or pillow case 🙂 Otherwise, I never use anything other than paracetamol.

Yes Paracetamol for me also. You could try the odd Ibuprofen, but not if you are prone to stomach upsets. It can help reduce inflammation of the air ways.

Hope you soon feel better.

Thanks

Ok thats great I will get some on my way home from work, anything to make it easier at work 🙂

Thanks Highlander, I will stick with the paracetamol, it's just a pain sitting in a stuffy office when you feel like this :(

I find things like hot no added sugar/sugar free blackcurrant and orange squash helps with the cough, as do regular hot showers. I go with the paracetemol although I was told the ammount of sgar in hot lemons is negligiable. The pharmacist may also be able to assist. I hope you feel better soon.

I was advised not to take cold remedies containing decongestants because they can cause both blood sugar and blood pressure to rise in some people. I took the pragmatic approach and decided that for 1-2 days out of the rest of my life, I'd live dangerously! As a T2, now well-controlled, I feel I can get away with it. Having said that, since I've taken charge and improved my D-control, I haven't had more than a sniffle.
