We can not advise you in that dept, You need to contact the hospital or your surgery nurse. 🙂

Hi and welcome

Unfortunately we are not able to give dosing advice with insulin (or anything else) as we are not medically trained and don't know your full circumstances.
If you have not been told how to adjust your insulin doses yet, then it may be that your health care professionals want to see a few days of results at the doses they have given you before adjusting it. It is normal to start with smaller doses than expected and increase them slowly, so that your Blood Glucose levels come down slowly rather than crashing down from a high level into the normal range or worse still, below and possibly causing damage to small blood vessels and nerves in the process. Slow and steady change is best.
Do you have a contact telephone number or email for your hospital team or Diabetes nurse at your GP practice to discuss your doses and BG levels. They are the people who need to advise you on insulin doses, but those numbers are not hugely high at this early stage of being just newly started on insulin. If you were getting readings in the 20s that would be more cause for concern.
There is no reason why you can't have a low carb breakfast and lunch if you are worried about your levels... some scrambled eggs or an omelette perhaps with some salad, but your team usually would want you to eat normally when they start you on insulin so that they can see how the dose they gave you works. That gives them a better idea of how much it needs adjusting by, rather than you not eating so they don't get the full picture.

It will also be helpful to them if you keep a food diary along with your readings so that they have a better idea of what dose will work.

Let us know when you have spoken to one of your health care team and how you get on.

Hi. It looks like you are on twice daily mixed insulin; can you confirm the name of the insulin? Yes, you do need to seek a advice on any changes as it's not so easy as the other regime where there are two different insulins (called Basal/Bolus) used 5 times per day. Were you started on insulin due to your HBA1C being too high? Do you have any excess weight? If so having a low carb diet will help reduce your BS and any insulin resistance. Any reduction of the carbs may need you to reduce your insulin so seek guidance on that. If you are slim and possibly not T2 but LADA you may be better on the Basal/Bolus regime as time progresses. It means more injections but better control.
