I’ve had issues with my sugar levels last two days after changing my lantus . It would appear it has failed after checking it several times some came out on one occasion but not much in other tests . I don’t actually know how much has gone in today . Would you inject full daily dose now ? Use nova rapid to bring it down overnight and then put proper dose from new pen tomorrow?
 
If you’ve already injected your Lantus but are unsure how much went in, I would not inject again - it’s potentially dangerous.

Correct as needed with your Novorapid but be cautious especially in the evening. You might also want to set an alarm to test around 2am.

Change your Lantus as I said in the other thread you’re on, then hopefully your dose tomorrow will work ok.
 
I think I remember reading that you can check the calibration of your pen by injecting 10 units into the needle cover and it should come to the first shoulder/widening point of the cover. I don't know how true that is as It was another forum member who mentioned it and don't know where they got it from.
 
Thanks so much .. I only take 10 units a day of lantus amazing what a difference it makes not having it . Changed pen ready for tomorrow. Just going to check in the night and correct with nova rapid if necessary
 
@Freddie1966 - TBH when starting a brand new pen, or cartridge of insulin when I had re-fillable pens - I shot 'more than enough' in the air, so at least 5u if not 10u - to make 100% certain it was AOK because a whole 3ml of insulin lasted me ages so a few ml wasted is nowt, every so often. (to phrase this succinctly, it costs the best part of bugger all!)
 
Like @trophywench I shoot more than 2u when starting a cartridge, I changed my Tresiba cartridge this afternoon and did 2 4u shots to make sure the plunger was connecting correctly etc, people may think it's a waste but I'd rather that than my BG end up haywire because it wasn't right, the effects of it not being ok are far worse than doing a few extra air shots xx
 
Thanks for your replies it’s appreciated. The half dose pen for my lantus is very flimsy and difficult to change the cartridge . The problem when I tested it was sometimes it worked others it didn’t so not reliable. I’m going back to the pre filled pen tomorrow morning I feel more confident with that . Just shows everyday is a school day
