😱😱

Hey Guys, I really hope you can help me. Would anyone have 3 or 4 or preferably a box of 562 Medtronic Paradigm Quickset (9mm, 25G, 60cm) Medtronic MMT-397 Paradigm Paradigm only sT 10 sets they could lend me just to get me through the short term.

I'm very happy to order the person that helps me a box to replace these once I am set up.

I have just moved back over to the UK from Australia after been born in the Uk back in the 80's. Was diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes back in January 2007. Spent all my life in the Australian health care system

I arrived here in Mid July 2011 and a high priority for me was seeing a doctor and getting a steady supply of insulin, testing strips, lines and resevoirs. This was along with finding a job and getting a place to live.

I looked around where I was staying and registered with a doctor and this was a difficult process as they were very specific with either not taking new paitients or taking paitients who lived only in a certain area. I did not have an NHS number and was probably not a great paitient to take on. I have just got registered when they said the person who would do my health appraisal was away on Summer Holidays and I could not see a doctor until this was done so I waited around 2 weeks before I could see a Doctor.

I saw one today and she said I need to register with some hospital before I can get the Insulin Pump supplies. I am just worried I will run out before I get my funding through and also get to a hospital etc.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Hi Tommy, members can get in touch with you via PM - we don't allow personal contact info in posts. You might want to try getting in touch with IPAG (Insulin Pumpers Action Group):

http://www.ipagscotland.co.uk/

Someone there may be able to help if you get no response here.

As an interim measure, could you get insulin pens and supplies from your GP or even some disposable syringes and insulin from the surgery to tide you over ?

I can't imagine them leaving you to run out. If it does come to that, you should be able to take evidence of diabetes to A&E and get some emergency supplies of basics.

Sorry I can't help either with the actual pump supplies issue.

Thanks guys I think I may be back onto Injecting insulin. Did not realise how long this all would take.

Tommy, ring medtronic and explain what has happened they will help you out as will trace your Oz records.
Or go to the hospital yourself and explain to the DSN there.
Yes it's shocking the time it takes to get supplies sorted.
I don't have a medtronic so can't help you out sorry :(

Another sorce to try is INPUT http://www.input.me.uk/ they will prob have some better ideas as to what to do.

Best wishes
Sue

I am in Edinburgh and have humalog prefilled pens and needles I could give you, I am not on a pump yet. Have they agreed to fund you pump, pump provision in Edinburgh is pretty rubbish.

There is an iPAG Scotland group on facebook, someone on there may be able to help.

Sorry you are in such a situation Tommy.

Would it be an option for you to contact medtronic and arrange to purchase supplies until you know if you will be funded or not. As it might not be automatic that you get funding on the NHS. I would assume the team you get under will have their own policy and guidelines to follow to assess if you meet their criteria.

As others have said if you don't already have back up pens get them sorted so you can transition back to injections if you need to

Hi Tommy

I have loads of Medtronic supplies I can send to you. I have Quicksets and Sure Ts and Sils. As well as reservoirs. If you send me a PM I can send these to you asap.

Thanks guys

I will try some of these great suggestions this week. Thanks for the offer Shiv that would be great in the short term. When I spoke to Meditronic they really do not like dealing across borders so what I may do is order some stuff to be delivered to my parents in Oz and then get them to mail it over to me and that may take care of me for like 6 months while I play the WAITING GAME.
