Hi all, I've had high readings all day (nothing below 10) I'm currently sitting at 13.3 and ive started vomiting. Is this related to my high sugar? I feel awful, tired, thirsty and headache. Can anyone help? At work and not sure who to call, what to do.

Hi Hayley...high blood sugar levels can cause you to feel nauseous/vomit. ..often referred to as hyperglycaemia...other symptoms include feeling hungry and more thirsty than usual.... do you have any other difficulties...peeing more frequently... more uirne output...blurry vision...the fluctuations could be a result of not eating properly...interactions with other medications...are you currently taking other medications... I don't want to alarm you unnecessarily..however hyperglycaemia can be serious...it could be diabetes related...or symptomatic of another health issue... there are any number of reasons that may have caused your BG to rise...you have to keep an eye on it...why not give your doctors out of hours service a call...ask for some advice...many surgeries have switched to the 111 service...you can call them ...speak to a clinician ...we can only offer suggestions here...you need to get some professional medical advice...in the meantime try drinking water...try not to get stressed...call one your surgery/111for advice at the very least it will put your mind at rest...keep us updated when you can.[/QUOTE]

Thank you. Will try 111. I've been sick three times in the space of an hour so far. I don't know why it's high, maybe it's the heat....

If you are not getting anywhere with 111, or start feeling worse then a trip to the ER is in order..... In the meantime try & drink lots of water; it helps to bring BG levels down, if you can't keep the water down then ER for you.

Good Hayley...call 111...if you have a lengthy wait and those numbers continue to rise...as @Martin Canty say...get yourself off to the A & E dept

Well 11 were useless. Wanted to send an ambulance, not sure why I got very confused during the conversation. I'm feeling a bit less sick now so will go to bed and test in the night and call doctors first thing. I'm still around 13 but it's coming down not going up thankfully. Thank you everyone.

Keep checking your blood glucose levels and sipping water or other no or low sugar drinks (not gulping large amounts). Why did you think that suggesting an ambulance was useless?

An ambulance would have been a good option, with the vomiting & confusion it sounds like at the very least you were becoming dehydrated or worse.

Hi Hayley...wondering how you are this morning?

Hi Hayley...wondering how you are this morning?
Hi Bubbsie. Feeling much better this morning. Had a good night's sleep and BS is down to 7.4 now. Off to the docs later to talk about Meds. Possibly get them changed as they think that's the cause of the sickness.
Thanks for all your help everyone. I was panicking a bit last night.

Relieved to hear those levels are down Hayley...good luck at the doctors.

Good luck with the doctor Hayley. I don't blame you panicking, I would have done. I don't think them sending an ambulance is a waste of time though. Hospital is the best place to be if you are really unwell rather than waiting for doctors.

Great news Hayley, please remember that we can't mess around when it come to our D. High and low BG levels can be potentially life threatening; it's not like we are wasting time at A&E with a trivial issue. I just did a quick check on Victoza & you did present a couple of side effects which need to be investigated.

Hi Hayley,

I've just been reading through your thread & I'm so relieved to hear that your BG levels have come back down.

I was admitted to hospital a couple of weeks ago with DKA - I've been having a real struggle just lately & probably for quite a while. My numbers got stuck in the very high 20's, 30's & even higher & the day before admission I had started vomiting.

Please do take care of your diabetes & test test test then act if you need to.

Hope your BG's have stayed at a nice level for you today 🙂

Hi all, just a quick update. All back to normal levels today. Doctor was very helpful. We have swapped the victoza for trulicity as she thinks the victoza is to blame for all the side effects. See how we get on with that.

Thank you everyone for all your advice and concern. It's so nice to have people to talk to when your confused and worried.

Good to hear you're okay Hayley...but...please never be worried about asking for help when you need it...from here...your GP...or at your local A E department.

Great news Hayley. 🙂

I'm really pleased to hear that things are better for you Hayley 🙂
