Hi
My 2yr old is none diabetic and for about 2 weeks hes been off hes food sleeping loads day and night and constant crying today hes been saying his tummy ache ad a sore willy. Hes been the docs twice they said nothings up with him,
Tonight hes just wet the bed alot so ive done his bloods there 7.7 hes not ate since 6.30 had a custard cream. and hes ketontes are 0.6 should i be worried what do i do.

Hi Mrs Boyle, very sorry to hear your little one is ill :( It does sound as though he has an infection and this can cause higher than normal blood sugar levels even in non-diabetics, but I do think the best thing would be to go back to the doctor's, or perhaps call NHS Direct for advice. I'm not a parent but it doesn't sound to me like there's nothing up with him if he's been feeling this way for a couple of weeks. I do hope he is feeling better soon.

Yeah def something going on - as northie said may well just be infection so best not to panic but I'd be acting on it and get him seen again - take a urine sample to check for infection and check for Balanitis - common on young boys. Also any infection can result in sore tummy and groin due to lymphnode enlargement. What's the worst you can do by making a fuss - if there is nothing wrong he gets better and everyone is happy. X

My husbands took him A &E hes been up all night did his sugars after 12hours of no food they was 6,3.
So hes going to kick up a fuss and get him sorted.

Hope all goes well. Let us know how you get on.
