Ok.

For the last month or two, things haven?t been so great. I wake up every morning with a dry mouth. In fact, whenever I wake in the night, my mouth (and now my lips) are always very dry, and I need to reach for a glass of water. Secondly, I am having to get up between 2-4 times during the night to pee and always need to pee loads in the morning. Annoying.

Do I drink loads too? Yes and no. Only once I?ve eaten something, I do usually need to drink, and it?s sometimes a considerable quantity. But, I could probably go until 3pm today without drinking any water and not feel thirsty (provided I don?t eat). But I?ve been suffering from other symptoms. I sometimes feel tired in the day, but nothing too awful. But Aching legs is one I do sometimes get, always in the lower half. And then, on Tue evening, I began to get a shocking pain in my right foot, for no apparent reason. I ended up limping. Over the past few days, it?s slowly disappeared but? And then, my eyesight doesn?t seem right. I seem to find it a little hard to adjust to rapid movements in light-change or focus. And then there?s something else. Genitalia. It frequently feels rather itchy. Sometimes I have this strange, tingly sensation in my testicles! Tis weird. I?m 33, overweight and worried. Is it pretty-much a foregone conclusion that I have Type 2 Diabetes?

Hi there

Welcome to the forum!

Have you been to your GP and talked about this?

It would be well worth making an appointment for a checkup. Some of your symptoms might suggest diabetes/elevated blood glucose levels (thirst, changes in eyesight, itching due to yeast infection, pains in legs) but they could well be something else entirely.

Best to go and get yourself checked out. Your GP will be able to arrange some quick and easy tests which will show one way or t'other. Even if it's news you don't want to hear - you won't get any healthier by putting off getting checked and if there *is* something wrong like diabetes the sooner you know about it, the sooner you can start getting it under control and the better you will feel. You'll also reduce the risk of doing any damage if everything in your body is off-kilter BG (blood glucose) wise.

Off to the Docs with you matey 🙂

Even if they end up saying "Don't be so daft, there's nothing wrong with you" at least you'll *know*.

Welcome to the forums calgontablet 🙂

It's not a foregone conclusion that you are Type 2.

However it's definitely a foregone conclusion that you need to go see your GP!

Welcome to the forum from me too.

Stop worrying and get yourself to your GP. If it is diabetes then at least you know and can start doing something about it.

I was diagnosed in October 2009 and was overweight too (19st plus at one point). I am now less than 14st and my diabetic symptoms are pretty much under control and I'm not on any medication.

Suffice to say I now feel better than I have done in years.

Good luck,

Andy 🙂
