Hello, i am extremely new to this... come here to maybe find some support and wise words from people who actually know what the hell is happening 🙂

Hello Jess, and welcome to the forum 🙂

There is a lot of support here, so if there's anything in particular you're struggling with or any questions you have, let us know - someone is likely to be able to help.

How long have you been diagnosed, and how are you managing so far? Are you on MDI (multiple daily injections) or a pump?

Hiya, I was diagnosed in January so about 8 months now and i'm not gonna lie, I've really been struggling. I was recently in hospital for DKA because i was stupid and did not believe that something like this would happen so where as i should have been taking 3 insulin injections a day, i wasn't taking any for about 5 months. I am trying to get back on track to push myself back on to the routine for not only my sake but for my families, so fingers crossed coming to somewhere like this might help when I'm feeling stuck and hopeless. I appreciate the warm welcome.
Jess x

Hi @jessx2000 , welcome to the group, hope you manage to get back on track as DKA is a serious condition and to be avoided at all costs, there’s lots of advice & support here if you need it or if you just need a good moan or vent..
Regards
M.

Sorry to hear how much you've been struggling, Jess - I think a lot of people go through a stage of denial when they're first diagnosed, especially when they're your age and not wanting something like diabetes to hold them back from life (the good news is, it doesn't really hold you back - there's very little you can't do with diabetes that you can do without diabetes, it just takes a bit more planning).

I'm glad you're trying to get back on track now, and joining this forum is a really good way to do that - there's so much help and information here, and no-one will mind if you just want to have a rant now and again, as Martin says.
