Hi im becci. i was diagnosed with type 2 diabities ( cant spell the word as you can see) 4 weeks ago. went to doctors today and came out thinking oh ****. he had told me so much couldnt take it all in. i honestly didnt think at the age of 27 i would be diabetic.

Hi Becci, welcome to the forum 🙂 There is a lot to take in, but don't worry - if there is anything that is confusing or concerning you, then please ask and we'll try to help. Nothing is considered 'silly'! 🙂

People can be diagnosed at any age with diabetes - we have members of all ages here. I was diagnosed with Type 1 at age 49 and they used to call Type 1 'juvenile diabetes' because it mostly affects children!

Have a look at the 'Useful Links' thread for some ideas:

The book by Gretchen Becker comes particularly well recommended by our members, so worth trying to get hold of a copy. Have you been put on any medication, and were you given a blood testing meter?

I look forward to hearing more from you - try not to get overwhelmed by it all 🙂

Thank you will have a look when i get 5 minutes. my head just spinning with wat i have to take in 🙂 good thing is i lost 11lbs in 4 weeks lol

Hi becci and welcome to the forum 🙂

Yes, there is a lot to take in at first, but none of it is particularly difficult in isolation - it's just the combination of factors that can get confusing.
Don't worry though, it will all fall into place and you've come to the best place for support and advice based on experiences of others in a similar position.

Welcome to the forum becci 🙂 xx

Hi Becci, welcome! I am 23 with type 1 diabetes. Good luck with everything and well done for the weight loss, thats great! I have found plenty of support here already and only joined yesterday 🙂

Hello Becci a warm welcome to the forum, there's loads of helpful folks here so fire away with any questions. It sounds like your GP has been very helpful so far, I came away from my diagnosis with practically nil info so this place has proved invaluable to me. Has your GP put you on any medication?

Perhaps next time you go you could ask him to explain the need for the aspirin, also there is a slow release metformin that he can prescribe which is less likely to cause stomach upsets, cant remember what its called now but someone else will probably be able to enlighten us.
