MODY
Hi, I am a 70 year old newbie with Mody diabetes (HNF1A) which was only diagnosed about 4 years ago. Is there a Mody section on this Forum? I am also interested in finding anyone who is using Miao Miao or Blucon or other devices with Free Style Libre 2 to send data to Apple Watch.

Hi @Mark W and welcome. I'm sure we do have some Mody members although I can't remember who. I'll call in one of the admins who might be able to help. @everydayupsanddowns

Hi Mark and welcome from me too.

Sounds like you have a switched on team to get diagnosed MODY. I am not sure we have any regular members who have had the testing and been confirmed (I believe the testing is expensive) but I seem to recall @Grannylorraine is suspected MODY.... apologies if I am wrong about that.

As regards Libre and Miao Miao, I believe @helli uses it with Libre (or used to) but to her phone rather than watch I think.
Curious to know if you manage to get Libre on prescription as a MODY or if you have to self fund.
Would you be prepared to tell us how you manage your diabetes? Ie diet and oral meds or insulin and if so, which ones?

Look forward to learning more about MODY from you as it is one of the rarest forms of diabetes I believe..... but maybe that is due to lack of testing!

Hi, I'm suspected of being MODY, but gp won't get me tested due to cost, so I am treated as type 2.

Apologies to @Stitch147 and @Grannylorraine for mixing you up. I obviously have pink hair and MODY linked in my mind somehow!! 😳

Welcome to the forum @Mark W

We don’t have separate areas of the forum for different diabetes types, because I think we have more in common than what separates us, and we can all encourage and support each other even if the specifics of our diabetes management may be slightly different.

We’ve had a few MODY members over the years, but apart from @Stitch147 and @Lindarose, not many are visiting any more.

There are a few threads here if they are if interest

Look forward to hearing more of your story 🙂

Hi, I am a diagnosed MODY diabetic. I was diagnosed 17 years ago during my second Pregnancy at 30 years old. I was treated as a gestational diabetic in my first pregnancy 21 years ago, and then as a Type 2 diabetic until diagnosis. I would also be interested to see if there was a MODY section on this Forum to share experiences and information. I don't have a fancy glucose monitor, but information being sent to my Apple Watch would perhaps be useful.

Hi Stitch, that seems really disappointing. I know I was lucky to be tested 17 years ago, my consultant said he would be in trouble if he was wrong about my potential diagnosis but was adamant that he would be proven right. I was pregnant with my 2nd child when I received my diagnosis. My brothers and mother and father were given tests. They all returned negative results, meaning I was the 'De Nova' generation. When I requested that my children were tested this was declined, however in the past few months I requested this again and they have now been tested. We are awaiting the results. Maybe worth you asking the same question again at some point in the future.
