Hi! I’m a new here, have been a diabetic since I was 18, at 52 you would think I’m an old hand at all this, but still learning how to be a good diabetic!!
Looking forward to getting to know you all & pinching some great ideas & recipes from people who live with it daily.
Thank You for reading this far
Judy xx

Hello @Judylill and welcome to the forum 🙂
I can assure you with diabetes you never stop learning no matter how long you have had the condition for.

Hello
That’s a lot of balls your juggling ‍♀️
I have been type 1 for over 23 years, but gestational diabetic when I had my first child, apparently I was a type1 back then but every time I was checked & tested it was missed!

Hi Judy and welcome from me too.

Good to have your years of experience added to the forum's collective wisdom. I am just 2 years down the road with it but would have been lost without the advice and support from people here.

Do you have any of the wonderful tech which is now available to help you manage your diabetes.... ie Freestyle Libre and/or a pump. We have a few members who are on closed loop systems with pumps and sensors talking to each other to help keep the ship sailing on smooth waters for them without too much thought although it seems these systems need a lot of tweaking to set them up. It is all very clever what can be achieved. I certainly love my Freestyle Libre but otherwise I am happy on MDI.

Which insulin(s) do you have and how do you find them?
Have you had much problem with your levels since the Covid vaccines? It caused some of us some turbulence!

Hiya! As I'm sure 'they' said to many of us some time ago - expecting that we wanted to be good, deep down - 'If you can't be good - be careful!' so I've always aimed to be the latter, meself - since I absolutely know too damn well I can't achieve the former without fail!

Hello and welcome to the forum @Judylill 🙂

Hello and welcome @Judylill 🙂

I'm definitely still learning! but I have learnt some excellent ideas since being part of this forum, pre bolusing is the best advice I've discovered since joining a few years back.

Welcome to the forum @Judylill

Look forward to hearing more of your story over the coming weeks and months 🙂

Hello, welcome along from me too.

As others have said, we never stop learning, everyday is a school day etc. I’ve picked up lots of tips from the forum members and also learnt to appreciate how the condition effects different people in different ways and how we all deal with it in our own way...certainly no “one size fits all”.
