Hi, I am new here and new to diabetes. I have just been diagnosed with steroid induced diabetes after being on a high dose of steroids for vasculitis since the beginning of February. I am feeling really fed up with it all (hence the username!). I have just today been prescribed gliclazide after finding out that my HbA1c level is 97. Hopefully that will help a bit, though I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all :(

Hi - the feeling of being overwhelmed indicates you are pretty normal - cos most of us feel like that to begin with. However - sometimes steroid induced diabetes, can resolve itself once your body eventually recovers completely from the original condition. Do you drive and if so have you also been issued with a means of testing your blood glucose day to day?

Hey glad to see you here. I see lots of people are suffering from diabetics all over the world. You should consult a doctor and then take necessary steps to control it.

Hi, yes my GP said that, hopefully, it might resolve itself once I stop taking steroids, although I am going to be taking them for a long time apparently. Yes, I do drive, and yes they gave me a blood sugar monitor to use at home. Am just getting used to it all

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis with diabetes @Prettyfedup

Your Dr should be able to tell you if you need to contact the DVLA

See https://www.gov.uk/diabetes-driving

Though you should let them know if you have any nasty lows with the Gliclazide.

Why would you like to use steroids if there is natural solution. First try for the natural solution. I hope that help!
