Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Wanted to say hello - I’m new here but I’ve been type 1 for nearly 20 years now. Feeling really worried and overwhelmed today about everything that’s happening at the moment so wanted to do something positive and get involved here. Hope everyone is safe and okay.

Hi and welcome to the forum @Kate_b - Best way you can get involved on the site is to pass on you knowledge to newer diagnosed, or offer hints/tips to those not as accustomed to the condition. We have many people on here (me included) still learning. Helping hands are always welcome. Stay well. And good to have you here.

Hello @Kate_b

Welcome to the forum. Glad you’ve joined us, and looking forward to your contributions.

Yes it’s an anxious time for lots of us.

Well done on your 20 years’ of pancreas impersonation! How do you currently manage your diabetes? Pen? Pump? Which flavours of insulin? Any fancy sensors or continuous monitors?

If you are struggling or feeling anxious with all the current pandemic fun and games you might find these PDFs helpful

Welcome to the forum @Kate_b your knowledge will be invaluable to the forum, we are all anxious and worried to a point that is why we can come on the forum and express our feelings without any judgement, take care.

Thank you all for the kind welcome! It’s nice to be here. Not sure why it’s taken me this long.

@everydayupsanddowns we’ve met before! In Bristol, when we were trying to help get the Libre funded. Hope you’re well. And thank you for the pdf link!

Currently on injections still, I feel they suit my lifestyle. Novorapid, and Levemir twice daily. Libre, which is great (most of the time!)

Thanks all again, looking forward to be a part of this community.

Great to have your experience in here.

It is a worrying time, but a person with Diabetes is no more likely to get Corona Virun, but if we do it can make our Diabetes more difficult to manage. Good to have the Sick Day Rules to hand.

I look forward to hearing more from you.
