Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
A newbie to this site, having been diagnosed two years ago with T2 (hbA1c 56, now 41), no meds and kept under control by diet (with the occasional spectacular wagon derailment) and I'd like to say exercise but that's a work in progress.... Came here from another diabetes site because I found a few of their Forum members somewhat judgmental. I was given a mug at Christmas with Crazy Cat Lady on it, although I only have one. The crazy bit? - ask away if you have any questions!

Hello and welcome to you, glad you have joined us and I hope you find us a friendly bunch. We sometimes have differing opinions but I don’t believe in a confrontational way at all. We are here to help and support each other whether it is about our diabetes or our daily lives, we get to know each other very well in a ‘virtual’ way. Sounds like you have good control of your bg levels which is great and I’m sure you will be an asset to other newbies who can be very shocked and uncertain of their journey ahead of them.
If you have a crazy gene that’s great, you will fit in well lol. Sue x

Hi, I suspect that the 'other diabetes forum' may be the other one I'm a member of. If so, this one is less confrontational and the Moderators are a lot nicer.
personally I don't mind the judgemental or confrontational members in the other forum - just it's Moderators not allowing me to be as robust in response!

Nothing wrong with being robust as long as it is done in a kindly way. (I’ve never noticed you being unkind by the way 🙂 ) Many newbies in particular can be in an emotional and delicate state when first diagnosed and personally I think it is them in particular that we need to embrace in a gentle and friendly way so they will stay and get the help and support they need.

Hi and welcome from one crazy cat lady to another :D I also only have one little bully who rules my world, telling me when to get up, go to bed and of course the demand feeding.......and i Love every minute with her. I look forward to getting to know you😉

Hello and welcome. I hope you find us a friendly lot, and only a little bit crazy. Looks like you are doing amazingly well, and yes many of us get the derailments, I think I've had more than British Rail. The important thing as you obviously know is to get back on the tracks again quicker than they do.

Welcome to the forum @Edgar's Raven

I hope you find this a safe, friendly and supportive place to share your experiences, ask all the questions you have, and explore your own unique form of diabetes management.

Our approach here, is that there is no ‘one size fits all’ style of management that suits everyone, and that each person has to work out a way of eating, and a level of activity that suits them, suits their tastebuds, meets their BG ambitions, and is sustainable long-term.

Often this involves reducing or moderating carbohydrate intake, but everyone is an individual, so different people on the forum find different levels of carb intake suit them and their diabetes.

That and that diabetes management is always something of a work in progress, and diabetes does like to move the goalposts every now and then 😉

Welcome Edgar's Raven 🙂

Crazy cat man saying welcome here too!

Welcome @Edgar's Raven to the friendly, helpful, amazing Diabetes forum! Enjoy.

@Edgar's Raven I just got the reference and I like your style!

unless you’ve actually got a raven and are actually called Edgar in which case ignore me 🙂

I’ve still not got the reference. I can only think of Arabelle and Mortimer.

Never more!
