Hello Lin, It is nice to read your message. I have been diabetic for nearly 20 years.
My recent HbA1c is 55, dropped from 58 by taking on empagliflozin for 2 months
I'm a bit concerned as I have lost quite a lot of weight within this period.
on metformin x320mg, sitagliptin x100mg, empagliflozin x15mg

Hey & welcome to the forum. I hope you find it useful and if you have any questions then feel free to ask away.

Hi Ping and welcome from me too.

Were you overweight when you were first diagnosed and how did that diagnosis come about? Is the current weight loss unintentional and are you in or below the normal BMI range?

The reason I ask is that there are other types of diabetes like LADA or Type 1.5 which can take time to manifest and so normal Type 2 medication will sometimes hold it steady for a few years along with dietary changes to cut down on carbs but eventually it progresses more towards Type 1 and requires insulin. Unintentional weight loss is often associated with Type 1 together with an increase in HbA1c although I would have expected that to have increased more dramatically than just 58.
