I'm type 2 recently diagnosed and controlling with diet alone at the moment which appears to be doing the trick (so far!) Hope to find a few helpful tips on here also.
Hi Jill, welcome to the forum 🙂 Hopefully you will find lots of interest here and lots of friendly and helpful people! Don't be afraid to ask anything, no question is considered 'silly' here!
My tip is "Old Fellow" in the 13:45 at Cheltenham. It's a dead cert @ 33-1.
Good to hear that diet only is doing the trick for you so far.
I'm currently in the same boat (not on any meds either), but am also in the process of losing weight (trying to get to 14 stone from a pre-diagnosis weight of 18). I'm now down to 15 and half stone and one immediate benefit has been an improvement in my insulin resistance. I'm also finding it possible to have a pretty good diet too (what with the increased exercise).
Another thing is to ask about getting on the Diabetes Xpert course run by the NHS. It's a 6 week course (one afternoon per week) and is very good in providing you with most of the information you need to get on top of diabetes. Plus, if you combine it with the information available from this forum (which may occassionally conflict with that provided by the health care guys!), you'll really be in the driving seat!
Hi Jill and welcome. I was put straight onto meds as I think my practice nurse thinks trying diet and exercise just delays starting the treatment! Will see what the results of the next blood are in June.
Many thanks to you all. How nice you all are and what a wealth of helpful tips you've posted. I shall definitely know where to come when I need advice or cheering up.
