Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
I’ve been diabetic for nearly 20 years, new to this forum though. I use Novorapid, Levemir and have the Freestyle Libre, which is a game changer.
I’m currently experiencing pain and discomfort from my Novorapid injection sites, it seems quite extended beyond where I normally inject and slightly distended.

Hi and welcome.
Sorry to hear that you are having problems with injection sites. Have you tried changing to a different area of the body? Do you think that your current site may be infected? If so then you need to seek medical attention.
I am sure after 20 years you will know an awful lot more than me but sometimes we get so set in a routine it can be difficult to see the obvious.
What sort of things has the Libre highlighted for you? ie. What adjustments have you made as a result of using it which has improved control?
I am hoping that I may be offered it.... do you self fund or has it been provided on the NHS?.... Sorry to bombard you with questions, but I am keen to learn.

Hey, Welcome to the forum. If you are experiencing pain it is best to get your sites checked. do you rotate sites?

Hi Barbara, thanks for your reply, the questions aren’t a problem. Knowledge is power with diabetes. That’s fundamentally what the Libre has done, it’s so much easier to view the bigger picture and has really useful tools on the phone app. Being able to see the previous eight hours, particularly overnight helped me identify hidden hypos and means I was able to adjust my dose of Levimir, although adjustments can be like painting the Forth Road Bridge! I was initially diagnosed as type 2 myself, however like you, it sounds like it wasn’t a complete diagnosis. Obviously as a type 1, access to the Libre on the NHS is more likely, that’s where I was lucky with my own GP who was incredibly supportive. Yes, it has crossed my mind that the pain and tenderness may be because of an infection, just was seeking confirmation for myself. As is often the case, getting an appointment with the doctor is the next challenge. With kind regards.

Hi, yes I do, but will need to find new sites as having already had to change because of scarring, this is a new problem. Kind regards
